Howell has been involved in business coaching for some twenty-five years; this has mainly been with middle managers from for-profit organisations and has also included several start-ups, owner-managed businesses and the British ambassador to Mongolia. Howell’s approach is primarily based on the Solution-Focused model, where one of the most important assumptions is that clients are inherently competent and have the resources necessary for change – even if they do not believe this in moments of stress or uncertainty.

Howell is somewhat unorthodox in that he is, when specifically requested, willing to offer what he thinks, on the strict and explicit understanding that it is no more true than any other perspective.

Howell has recently completed a Solution-Focused Therapy course at Brief. He is also a qualified British Cycling Level Two Coach. His work with some of the youngest groups at Welwyn Wheelers has been a joyous eye-opener.
